Like Bob Ross cleaned his paint brushes in a bucket with water, God did so too, but in the river that floats through the jungle at Tenorio Volcano National Park. The magnificent blue colors of the Rio Celeste is a result of Him washing the brushes after painting the sky. This is its secret according to the local legends.
It's not the only treasures the park holds. When you visit you might be in for many pleasant surprises! Carefully hike down the muddy steps to find the amazing waterfall with blue morpho butterflies enhancing the total experience as they flutter over the water. Keep on hiking towards the natural blue lagoon and be on the look out for the rare tapirs. Make sure to learn about the lagoon's myths. Where all the magic takes place is Los TeƱideros. Two clear-water streams merge, which form a larger blue colored current. You'll witness a chemical reaction of volcanic minerals such as sulfur and calcium carbonates. Truly magical! There is even more! Tropical birds, wildlife, hot springs, mud baths and an incredible amount of jungle trees, plants, and flowers. The best thing about this amazing park: it's a well-kept secret, with just 10% of the total amount of visitors hiking the Manuel Antonio National Park. Make sure to be one of the few to learn about the secrets of Rio Celeste.
